The fourth Test between England and India at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton turned out to be a nightmare for the visiting team as they lost by 60 runs. To rub salt in their wounds, they also conceded the series 1-3. However, the match was marred by a minor tussle between the visiting team and the renowned Test Match Special (TMS) radio programme.

It was learned that the Indian players weren’t made available to the TMS during the penultimate Test of the series owing to a bizarre incident during the third Test at The Trent Bridge in Nottingham. However, the officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) mentioned that the BBC officials apologised for the same as per reports in Bangalore Mirror.

It started in Trent Bridge

Moreover, the matter was also resolved after BCCI’s meeting with the TMS team in Southampton. The matter started when Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, wasn’t allowed by his team to be interviewed by the BBC following the visiting team’s coup in the third Test to register their first victory in the series. The matter definitely didn’t go down well with TMS by any means.

Subsequently, they protested, saying that it was a breach of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the England Cricket Board (ECB) and the BCCI. The Indian team told that the management nominates a player/captain/coach for post-match interviews. At Trent Bridge, it was Ravi Shastri, the head coach of the national cricket team. TMS didn’t interview Shastri.

The fifth and final Test of the series is scheduled to be played at Kennington Oval in London from September 7 onwards. The match is nothing, but a dead rubber and Virat Kohli’s men would be hoping to end the series on a positive note. On the contrary, the Three Lions would want to win the last match and maintain their dominance over the visitors.
