After a jaw-dropping Test match between England and India at Edgbaston in Birmingham, the second Test contest at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground got off to a drab start. The first day’s play was abandoned due to persistent rain throughout the day. The Indians have an impressive record at the ‘Home of Cricket’ across all the formats and they would be keen to hit the pitch at the earliest.
The Three Lions, on the contrary, don’t have an overwhelming record at the ‘Home of Cricket’ by any means. Back in May this year, Joe Root’s men lost to Sarfraz Ahmed’s Pakistan by nine wickets at the very venue. However, with a lead of 1-0, they would be keen to replicate their form and make it more difficult for Virat Kohli’s men to make a comeback in the five-match series.
The lip-smacking delight for India
The second day’s forecast in London isn’t promising by any stretch of the imagination and the heavens may again open up. As they kept their fingers crossed for play to resume on the first day, the players were served with a mouth-watering menu. Due to the weather, early lunch was taken and the dishes are most likely to keep ardent foodies licking their fingers to the last bite.
Roasted stone bass, fresh lamb saddle, and chicken lasagne were some of the continental dishes. Indian dishes like Chicken tikka curry, curry, dal, paneer tikka and mixed vegetables were also served to them. The menu also consisted of the likes of prawns, mashed potato, basmati rice, papadams, baby carrots, corn, French beans, garden salad and boiled eggs.
Dark chocolate apple pie custard, fresh fruit salad, and cherry cheesecake, and ice-creams were the desserts available. Meanwhile, the official Twitter handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a picture of the board where the details of the food items were mentioned.

The second day’s lunch was also a delightful one for the visiting team. Spiced sweet potato, coconut soup, chicken carbonara pasta, lamb dhansak curry, prawns and marie rose sauce, poppadoms, naan bread, caesar salad and many other items were prepared for Virat Kohli’s men.
