While the return of Wriddhiman Saha has put <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/i-have-right-to-scold-him-when-i-am-unhappy-says-ravi-shastri-about-rishabh-pant/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Rishabh Pant</a>’s Test career on hold, it is the strategy of five bowlers that has put Hanuma Vihari out of the India&#8217;s XI. However, both these guys have experience of playing in pink ball first-class matches under the lights which could be useful in the game against Bangladesh. Considering the ‘dew factor’, India won’t risk playing more than two spinners.
Hence, Vihari might get a chance in this game but Pant might have to wait for a while to get this experience. The Andhra batsman represented India Blue in the league match of the 2017/18 Duleep Trophy hosted by Kanpur against India Red. He was promoted as an opener and ended up scoring 105 and helped his team to take the first-innings lead.
Rishabh was in the opposition side in the same game and had scores of 15 and a 23-ball 46. Pant also played the game against India Green in Lucknow where he scored 11 runs. He tallied 72 runs at an average of 24 across three innings and affected 4 stumpings and took as many catches. Both the players didn’t feature in the final played between the teams they represented.

<h3>2. Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma</h3>

India’s new opening pair of Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma had played the first-ever pink ball tournament – the 2016/17 Duleep Trophy for the India Blue team. Mayank represented them in all the three matches and opened the innings with skipper Gautam Gambhir. Rohit, on the other hand, featured in only the final after returning from the tour of West Indies.
<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/stats-rohit-sharma-the-batting-beast-on-indian-soil/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Rohit Sharma</a> wanted enough practice in the white jersey ahead of the home Test series against New Zealand. It was only one of the two non-Test first-class matches Rohit played since his Test debut in 2013. The Mumbaikar scored 30 and 32* in two innings of the game which they won by 355 runs. Mayank, however, put on impressive performances throughout the tournament.
The Karnataka opener scored at least fifty runs in all the five innings he played in the tournament. He scored 420 runs at an impressive average of 84 and the then career-best of 161. The fifties in remaining four innings helped Agarwal to finish as the 2nd highest run-getter of the tournament.

<h3>1. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja</h3>

The men from Saurashtra – Cheteshwar Pujara and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/india-vs-bangladesh-irfan-pathan-surprised-over-ravindra-jadejas-exclusion-in-t20is/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Ravindra Jadeja</a> were also part of the India Blue team during the 2016/17 Duleep Trophy. Pujara joined the India Blue team from their 2nd game of the tournament while Jadeja only played the final against India Red. The all-rounder was also part of the Caribbean tour along with Rohit.
This tournament saw the beginning of a record-breaking first-class season in India for both Pujara and Jadeja. India’s Test No.3 scored 166 in his first appearance and followed it with an unbeaten double century in the final. His 256* in the final is also the first-ever pink ball double ton in Indian FC cricket. He finished with 453 runs from three innings to finish ahead of Mayank as the leading run-getter.
Jadeja, on the other hand, recorded scores of 48 and 17 with the bat before his brilliant performances with the ball. He took ten wickets in the game with 5-wicket hauls in both innings. If Pujara became the first Indian to score a double ton in a pink ball first-class game, Ravindra Jadeja became the first with a 10-wicket match haul in the same match.

A total of eight players have played day-night matches with pink ball in first-class cricket.
