Cheteshwar Pujara
Matches – 5, Runs –51, Highest Score – 27, Strike Rate – 39.23
One of the best Test batsmen of this decade, Cheteshwar Pujara lived up to his nickname of ‘Test specialist’ in ODI cricket. His consistent performances in the longest format of the game earned Pujara a call-up to the Indian ODI team in 2013.
However, his ODI career lasted only 5 matches where the right-handed batsman scored 51 runs. His highest score was just 27 whereas his strike rate of 39.23 forced the selectors to drop him from the ODI squad. Given that Pujara played against the teams like Zimbabwe and Bangladesh further undermines his ODI career.
Pujara has an average of 10.20 in 50-over cricket. With Virat Kohli holding the number 3 position in the Indian team right now, it is unlikely that he will ever get a chance to represent India in the One-Day Internationals ever. The 31-year-old played his last ODI versus Bangladesh in 2014.
