Indian limited overs skipper MS Dhoni has been convinced by the government of Jharkhand to become the state’s brand ambassador for development. The most successful Indian captain will be seen campaigning for his state in its first global investor summit scheduled to take place from February 17, 2017.

Jharkhand’s industry secretary, Sunil Barnwal said, “We have already done a television commercial with Dhoni. We will start airing it from next month. It will speak about Momentum Jharkhand Global Investors’ Summit.”

The main motive of the summit is to present the state as the premier foremost investment destination for both foreign and domestic investors.

As Jharkhand was a part of Bihar till 2000, it never had any brand ambassadors to promote the state to the investor’s community. Since being carved out from the southern part of its parent state, Jharkhand will see Dhoni as their first brand ambassador who will be seen promoting government schemes like Sarva Shisha Abhigyan.

One of the style icons of the modern generation, Dhoni is currently leading the list of top 10 sports star with his deputy Virat Kohli having the maximum airtime captured in the 1st half of 2016 as per the latest data by Adex India.

Dhoni has been a prolific run scorer for India especially in the limited overs format and has been the most successful Indian captain in every format. He is the only Indian captain to lead his side to two World Cup glories. The T20 World Cup in 2007 and the 50 over World Cup in 2011 and is also the only captain to win all major ICC events.

“Captain Cool” retired from Test cricket in between the series in Australia in 2014 and his decision came as a shock to the whole cricketing fraternity. Kohli has handled his troops well since then but will be tested when India tour South Africa, England and Australia.
