Rohit Sharma is certainly one of the best opening batsmen in world cricket at the moment, and his incredible century against Bangladesh in the second semi-finals, which allowed India to set up a date with rivals Pakistan in the finals of the Champions Trophy. His unbeaten 123 against Bangladesh was enough to seal India’s berth in the final of the tournament, where they currently are the defending champions.

Sports Minister of India Vijay Goel hailed Rohit’s efforts and further congratulated the right-hander’s knock at the top of the order on Twitter saying, “It was a splendid knock from @ImRo45 that propelled #India to a comprehensive victory, looking forward to his 3rd double ton on Sunday #CT17.”

India-Pakistan finals, a delight for the fans:

Sports Minister is awaiting Sharma’s third double ton, with the previous two coming against Sri Lanka and world champions Australia. India marched on to the finals of the tournament with the solitary loss coming against Sri Lanka, while rivals Pakistan advanced to the finals with a remarkable eight-wicket victory over hosts England.

Pakistan, had their share of luck after Sri Lanka dropped crucial catches in the deciding match that led them to face the hosts in the first semi-finals.

India had defeated the arch-rivals Pakistan in the Group B encounter by a convincing margin, in the opening match of the group. The two sides will face once again in the finals, with India having won the trophy twice, and Pakistan, on the other hand, will want to get their hands on the trophy for the maiden time.

India won its first Champions Trophy in the year 2002, where they lifted the trophy alongside Sri Lanka in the rain-hit final and followed it up with the 5-run victory over England in the 2013 edition of the Champions Trophy. All eyes from around the world will be on the two teams when they take field at The Oval to crown the champion of champions.
