India's T20I stats and numbers since World T20 2007 final
On the 10th anniversary of their victory, we look at all the stats and numbers of India in the T20I format in the past 10 years.
On 24th September 2007, Team India was crowned as the champions of the inaugural edition of the World T20 held in South Africa after they defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in a thrilling final by five runs. Since that victory, the Indian team has been through many highs and lows in this format and haven’t managed to add another trophy to their cabinet.
On the 10th anniversary of their victory, we look at all the stats and numbers of India in the T20I format in the past 10 years.
1 – Number of T20I tournament India have after the 2007 WT20 triumph. India won the Asia Cup T20 in 2016. They lost in final of WT20 2014 and made it to the semi-finals in the 2016 edition. India failed to qualify to final four in the 2009, 2010 and 2012 WT20 editions.
3 – Number of Indians who have scored a century in T20I cricket after the WT20 victory. Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul made it to the list in 2010, 2015 and 2016 respectively.
4 – Number of players to lead India in the past 10 years in the T20I format. MS Dhoni led India in 65 T20Is, Virat Kohli in five T20Is while Suresh Raina and Ajinkya Rahane in three and two T20Is respectively.
6/25 – Yuzvendra Chahal’s 6/25 against England earlier this year is the only 5-wicket haul ever recorded for India in this format.
37 – MS Dhoni’s 37 T20I wins as captain since the WT20 2007 final are the most for any captain in this period. Second to him, Asghar Stanikzai and Darren Sammy have 27 wins each in T20Is.
44 – Number of wins for India in the T20I format in this period. They have played 75 T20Is and lost 30 of them. Their win-loss ratio of 1.466 is the 2nd best behind Afghanistan’s 1.772 in this period.
52 – Number of wickets Ravichandran Ashwin has taken in T20I cricket in the last 10 years. He is the only Indian player with 50 wickets in this format.
62 – Number of sixes Yuvraj Singh has hit in T20I cricket since the WT20 2017 final. These are the most number of sixes by any Indian in this period.
65 – MS Dhoni’s 65 dismissals in T20Is in the last 10 years are the most for any keeper. Dhoni has taken 41 catches in this period which are the 2nd most behind Umar Akmal (49).
74 – India’s total of 74/10 against Australia at Melbourne in 2008 is their lowest total in the T20I format.
244/4 – Team India’s total of 244/4 against Windies in 2016 at Lauderhill is their highest total in the T20I format.
196 – Number of fours Virat Kohli has hit in T20Is in this period. These are the most among Indian players and the 3rd most after Tillakaratne Dilshan (221) and Mohammad Shahzad (200) overall.
1830 – Kohli has scored the most runs among Indians in T20Is in these 10 years. His tally is 2nd behind Brendon McCullum’s 1877.
