India's U19 skipper Yash Dhull named in Delhi squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy tournament
Veteran cricketer Ishant Sharma will not take part in the Ranji Trophy tournament.
India’s U19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull has now been named in the Delhi squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy tournament.
On the other hand, Ishant Sharma will not take part in the tournament and has confirmed that he will not be available for selection. Sharma has communicated his decision to the President of the DDCA, Rohan Jaitley.
A selector stated that Dhull will be extremely high on confidence even though he has not featured in a lot of red-ball games. “His confidence is high and even though he hasn’t played a lot of red-ball matches, we want him to get a taste of first-class cricket,” said a selector as quoted by News18.
Pradeep Sangwan will lead the Delhi side in the Ranji Trophy
Also, Pradeep Sangwan has been named as the skipper of the Delhi side for the upcoming Ranji Trophy tournament. Meanwhile, Yash Dhull will arrive in Guwahati on 10th February 2022 and will complete his mandatory quarantine period of 5 days.
Dhull and the entire U19 World Cup-winning squad were in attendance in Ahmedabad and watched the 2nd ODI between India and the West Indies. The BCCI also felicitated the U19 side for their triumphant campaign in the Caribbean.
Dhull was in excellent form with the willow in hand in the U19 World Cup. In the 4 innings that he played in the tournament, the right-handed batter plundered 229 runs at a colossal average of 76.33. The 19-year-old also blasted a century and a half-century in the tournament as well.
Right arm tearaway pacer Navdeep Saini has also been named in the Delhi squad for the Ranji Trophy tournament.
