Injured Prithvi Shaw ruled out of India A tour of West Indies

The India A team is going to dress rehearse in the island nation before the Men in Blue senior dance to the Calypso’s tunes in the island nation. The tour involves unofficial ODIs and Test matches and different squads were finalized for the series. Some of the international stars including Prithvi Shaw was part of the squad. Unfortunately, he has been ruled out of the one-day due to an injury.
India A team has been doing well as they just beat the Sri Lanka A side in Test series and also tied the ODI leg. The West Indies tour was going to be an important one with many stars trying to punch their ticket The U-19 star Prithvi Shaw was the most anticipated player as he is to yet to make his white-ball debut in the international circuit. Along with him Manish Pandey, Shubman Gill, and Krunal Pandya will also be presenting their case.
Prithvi Shaw gets injured second time before the tournament
Last year Prithvi stroked a century in his first international game against West Indies. Consequently, he was expected to play a key role in the Test series Down Under. Unfortunately there also he was sidelined due to a freakish injury in the practice match. Then the youngster played some eye-pleasing knocks in IPL.
Prithvi has been scoring heavily in the domestic circuit. He is averaging almost 41 in his short List-A career. The West Indies series would have seen the right-hander make his ODI debut as some of the regulars were going to be rested. Now as he has picked up a niggle at the last minute he has been replaced by another rookie, Rituraj Gaekwad. Prithvi’s nature of the injury is still unknown but he will be undergoing rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
BCCI press release: “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named three replacements in the India A one-day squad that is set to tour West Indies this month. Ruturaj Gaikwad will replace an injured Prithvi Shaw in the squad while Anmolpreet Singh & Ishan Kishan will replace Mayank Agarwal & Rishabh Pant who are a part of the senior men’s squad for the World Cup.”
India A will start their journey on July 11 at the Coolidge cricket ground, Antigua. At the moment Shaw will have to wait for his turn in white-ball cricket.
