Injury scare for Rubel Hossain ahead of Australia Series
Rubel Hossain ended up with three wickets in the practice match after the minor scare
Bangladesh fast bowler Rubel Hossain sent tensions within the Bangladeshi camp after he slipped and fell during his delivery stride on the second day of Bangladesh’s intra-squad practice match in Chittagong. However, after the minor scare, Rubel was able to bowl again to continue his spell, ending up with three wickets.
Australia plays Bangladesh in a two-match Test series prior to the One Dayers and T20 Internationals to be held in India starting this September. The series with Bangladesh, India and even the Ashes was in jeopardy due to the longstanding payment dispute between Australian Cricketers Association and Cricket Australia. Apart from Rubel Hossain, during the practice game, Mominul Haque and Nasir Hussain displayed a substantial amount of promise.
“I am just enjoying the red-ball game as after a long break we are playing longer-version cricket. It’s not as if I wanted to make my comeback by playing the practice match. It’s just a practice match, so I tried to capitalise on the opportunity as much as possible,” commented Nasir Hossain according to cricket.co.au
“We have been practising hard for quite some time for the coming series against Australia but match practice is always good. Competition is always good and it’s good for everybody. As there are a number of players in the pipeline it just shows that our cricket is going up. You need to be mentally strong to make a comeback. and I have that mentality,” added the all-rounder who featured in the whites for Bangladesh last back in 2015.
