The much-awaited IPL 2020 kicked off in style after a lot of planning, speculations and twists. The cash-rich league couldn’t have witnessed a thrilling start when three times champion Chennai Super Kings put up a dominant show against defending champions Mumbai Indians.

Having registered the thumping victory by five wickets, CSK ended their five-match losing streak against Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai franchise. Chasing down 163, Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis displayed the pure class to get their squad going.

Rayudu played a stunning knock of 71 on 48 to build a strong partnership with Du Plessis, who remained unbeaten on 58 to finish things off in style. The bowlers of the Yellow Army including Lungi Ngidi, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla and Ravindra Jadeja, remained much on point while getting success for their team. Though Rayudu played cricket after a long span in the IPL 2020 opener, he showed an extraordinary class while bringing back the team in game from the score of 6/2.

His innings were decorated by 6 fours and 3 sixes with a strike rate of 147.92. In the same light, veteran CSK spinner Harbhajan Singh, who pulled out from the tournament due to personal reasons, heaped praise on Ambati Rayudu. He made a big statement while talking about batsman’s 2019 World Cup selection.

It will be less however much you appreciate Rayudu: Harbhajan Singh

It will be less however much you appreciate Rayudu. I feel there was an injustice done to him when the World Cup team was picked. He should have been definitely there on that team. But he has shown again in this match, how much ability he has, and that age is on one side and talent is also something that needs to be looked at,” Bhajji told Sports Tak.

Thereafter, the spinner shifted his focus on the team’s win and stated that he would like to praise the bowling attack of CSK. He especially lauded Piyush Chawla, who remained much economical yesterday.

“I would like to praise the bowling attack, the manner in which all the bowlers have bowled, especially Piyush Chawla, who conceded so few runs and took the big wicket of Rohit Sharma and restricted a big team like Mumbai Indians to a score of 162 runs,” he concluded.
