So finally the time arrived when Rohit had to bear the brunt of getting dismissed due to the hilarious confusion between these two. It was the first match of the Men in Blue in the ICC Champions Trophy against Pakistan. Both had come together in the 25th over after Rohit and Dhawan had provided the team with a great start. The partnership had reached 56 runs in no time and Rohit was close to a century batting on 91.

The skipper Kohli tapped the ball from Shadab Khan towards point and took off for a single. Rohit soon obliged and went for the run. He put in a dive to make sure he reached the crease but unfortunately his bat was lifted in the air when Sarfraz Ahmed broke the stumps. He agonisingly fell short of his century by 9 runs. However, Kohli made sure he remained unbeaten until the end and went on to score 81 off just 68 deliveries as India posted 319 runs.
