6. Rohit Sharma (vs Australia, 2017)

The series was already in the bag for India and the fourth match was being played at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Australia posted 334 runs in 50 overs on the back of a terrific century from David Warner. Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma started off well in the chase and added 106 runs for the opening wicket. Then the skipper Virat Kohli arrived in the middle and joined hands with the vice-captain Rohit.

In the 23rd over of the match, Kohli clipped the ball to backward point and went for the single. Aussie captain Steve Smith dived to his left and stopped the ball. He threw the ball quickly even as both the batsmen were horribly left stranded at the same end. Rohit was the man who had to go this time as well on 65 as it was the key wicket in the context of the match. Even the captain failed to make up for the mistake and could only score 21 runs as the home side lost the game by the same margin.
