The West Indies Women’s team has got an interim management team till the Board sets up a new support staff. The Caribbean ladies will start their World T20 title defense next year at home.  They had a poor campaign recently at the 50-over World Cup in England where they managed to win just 2 out of 7 games and were knocked out in the first round.

The interim staff

Cricket West Indies (CWI) released a statement that they have started the process of searching for the ideal candidate for the head coach. The CWI, however, has appointed an interim management to look after the team in the meanwhile. The make shift team consist of Henderson Springer (head coach); Gus Logie (assistant coach); Ariane Mangar (Physiotherapist)l Shayne Cooper (Sport and Conditioning Trainer) and Gary Belle (Analyst).

Sri Lanka are due to tour the Caribbean islands on October 5 and the CWI are keen to have the new management team in place before the tour kicks off. A preparatory camp will commence from September 25 till October 4 in which 18 cricketers will participate. A squad of 13 players will be selected who will take on the Sri Lankans in three ODIs and as many T20s.

Former staff axed following poor WWC

The former support staff, led by former West Indian fast bowler Vasbert Drakes who was the head coach, was axed following a dismal World Cup campaign in England. Drakes had Ezra Moseley and Stuart Williams as his assistant.

The two victories which the side led by Stafanie Taylor managed was against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, who both finished below the West Indies in the points table. In their group game against South Africa, West Indies slumped to their second lowest total in WODIs when they were bowled out for 48.
