Former Pakistan cricket captain and now chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq will travel with the Pakistan side according to a source close to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He will travel to England upon the instructions of the board to observe the performances of the national team and ‘A’ side. The initial plan was for Inzamam to stay the entire duration of the tour. However, time and budget cuts have seen the PCB tweak their plan for him.
“The former captain will now go to England after the third Test and remain there for the final Test at the Oval, the one-day series and the lone T20 international,” an official in the board said.
Further reports also went on to suggest that the former Pakistan skipper would be in a better position to evaluate the players if he went along with the side. “Inzamam himself wanted to watch the players in action in English conditions so that he could be in a better position to evaluate which players would be required for the limited over matches,” he said.
Since being appointed, Inzamam-ul-Haq has been closely involved with the Pakistan side. He has also regularly been seen in the nets as well as speaking to players and officials in tandem. In addition, the former Afghanistan chief coach has been working closely with newly appointed coach Mickey Arthur and current Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq.

“Inzamam took a keen interest in the preparations and the boot camp and skills camp held in Kakul and Lahore as he himself realizes the significance of Pakistan doing well in English conditions particularly in the Test series and ODI’s,” the official said.
