"We did not expect it could happen to us. We did not get the momentum going in the first half of the tournament and that is what hurt us," said Binny.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore had a brilliant run in the IPL last year. They fell one step short on the title victory and lost the finals against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. This year, the tournament has been very dismal for the Virat Kohli-led side. They languish at the bottom of the points table with only 2 wins in 11 matches. RCB all-rounder Stuart Binny recently reflected back at the poor outing in a media interaction.
As per the quotes in the Times of India, Stuart Binny noted that the team never imagined to have a horrid run such as this. They had some of the biggest names of the T20 world on their roster. The likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have all failed to lift the spirits of the team. Binny remarked that the team failed to get the early momentum. Also, it has been becoming very tough for the players to keep themselves motivated after the string of defeats.
“We did not expect it could happen to us. We did not get the momentum going in the first half of the tournament and that is what hurt us,” said Binny.
“It has not been easy, to be honest. It is new to the team for struggling in the competition, especially we are second last in the table. Yes, it has been pretty difficult for guys to be able to motivate themselves,” Stuart Binny added further.
The Bangalore lad was then asked to cite where things went wrong for them. He was asked whether it was the bowling that let them down. Binny replied in negative saying that the batsmen have failed to get the scores this season. The bowlers have done a reasonably good job in the low scoring games.
“We have not been getting exactly the scores we were looking for. However, credit must be given to bowling, especially the way we bowled when defending low totals. We needed wickets upfront, we got them, but did not get results our way. On the whole, our bowling has been pretty good this year,” he said.
Speaking about this actual role in the XI, Binny said, “Look, I had a couple of games where I had a decent hit, but had missed two opportunities not going our way. Yes, it has been disappointing. There were two roles assigned to me. First role was to use the new ball upfront and second was to squeeze an over or two after six overs and get a new batsman out who had just walked in,” he added.
