Gujarat Lions finally opened their points tally with a convincing 7-wicket win at Rajkot over Rising Pune Supergiant, who bagged their 3rd consecutive loss. Pune side posted a total of 171/8 with Andrew Tye taking a 5-fer on his IPL debut including a hat-trick in the final over. The pair of destruction, McCullum, and Dwayne Smith made the chase easy by going at 10 an over in first half. Here we look at all the records and stats created during the game.
1 – Andrew Tye became the first player to take a hat-trick on IPL debut. His hat-trick is the 16th in the IPL.
1 – Badree and Tye taking hat-tricks on the same day is the first such instance in IPL and the 6th such in overall twenty20 cricket. Four of the other 5 instances have come in Indian domestic Twenty20s.
2 – Number of hat-tricks Andrew Tye has taken in 2017. He has taken a hat-trick for Perth Scorchers in BBL in January. He is only next to Yuvraj Singh to take two hat-tricks in a calendar year.
5/17 – Andrew Tye’s bowling figures of 5/17 are the best for anyone on their IPL debut. He, in fact, became the first player to take a 5-wicket haul on IPL debut. Previous best: Shoaib Akhtar’s 4/11 for KKR in 2008.
6 – Number of players including Andrew Tye who have taken multiple hat-tricks in Twenty20s. Amit Mishra took 3 hat-tricks while Lennox Cush, Yuvraj Singh, Tim Southee, Al-Amin Hossain and Tye took two hat-tricks each.
7 – Number of ducks Ajinkya Rahane has in IPL while opening, the joint 3rd most for any player. Gautam Gambhir has 10 ducks while Parthiv Patel has 8 while opening in IPL. Gilchrist and Sehwag too have 7 ducks in IPL while opening.
