The Rising Pune Supergiant stunned the Mumbai Indians in the first Qualifier of the IPL playoffs this season. A brilliant bowling spell from Washington Sundar and a herculean effort with the bat by MS Dhoni set up the clinical win for the Rising Pune Supergiant. With the win, RPS now head into the finals of the tournament. The IPL 2017 final will be played at Hyderabad on May 21.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians will rue the fact that they lost the game against RPS despite having the home advantage. Now, they will head over to Bengaluru for the Qualifier 2 of the season. They will take on the winners of the Eliminator which will be played at Bengaluru between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. The Eliminator is scheduled to be played on May 17 and the Qualifier 2 will be played on May 19.

Rain threats

However, the recent weather changes and updates in the city of Bengaluru have not been very fruitful. M Chinnaswamy stadium is scheduled to host the two matches on May 17 and May 19. In the recent days, the rain gods have been severe on some parts of the city, particularly in the evening time. Even on May 16, areas in the vicinity of the stadium had seen some dark cloud cover.

If Eliminator is washed out

It would be a worrying concern for the two teams playing in the Eliminator on May 17. In case, the match gets washed out, the Sunrisers Hyderabad will advance to the Qualifier 2. This will mean that the Kolkata Knight Riders will have to bow out of the tournament without getting a sniff in the playoffs. The reason behind this is the fact that SRH finished at a higher position than KKR in the league stages.

If Qualifier 2 gets washed out

Similarly, if the Qualifier 2 gets washed out, then Mumbai Indians will directly advance for the IPL finals irrespective of who their opposition would be in the Q2. Mumbai Indians were the table toppers in the league stages.
