Sunil Narine (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Sunil Narine raised quite a few eyebrows when he opened the innings against the Melbourne Stars along with Aaron Finch to score a quickfire 21. Since then, Narine had a decent run in the Big Bash league as he smashed the bowlers all around in his own Trinidadian style.
KKR coach Simon Katich hoped that Narine emulated his form in Melbourne to Eden Gardens and around. Sunil Narine did not disappoint a bit, as he single-handedly took many a game away from the opposition within the powerplays to compensate for the loss of Chris Lynn.
He also broke the record for the fastest half-century in the tournament which was previously held by his teammate Chris Lynn. His impact has been such that Gambhir was forced to step down to the no.3 position so as to accommodate Narine and Lynn in the opening slot. The world saw an exhibition of power hitting from Lynn and Narine in the partnership against the RCB.
