Hard-hitting South African batsman AB de Villiers is known for his antics on the field. He has a great cricketing brain and is a renowned master of the sport. Currently, he is plying his trade for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. His team has had a disappointing season thus far and AB has not lived up to his name either. But, truth be told, the stylish batsman still has a lot of offer and expect him to fire in his shots sometime soon.

The talks about his cricket life is always on. Interestingly, his personal life has also been a point of discussion over the years. AB de Villiers is happily married to Danielle de Villiers and has a cute little son too. His love story has always been an awe-inspiring for many. Apparently, he had proposed Danielle at the Taj Mahal in Agra, India. The monument is a symbolic structure of love.

Recently, in a conversation with the PTI, AB de Villiers revealed another interesting anecdote about his personal life. He recalled an incident that mesmerized his wife big time. Talking about his love life, AB noted that he has always been a romantic person. During his school days, he used to write love letters for the girls he fell for. However, he never found courage to give it to those girls.

“I am a bit of a romantic — so any girl that I fell for during school days, I would write a letter but the problem with that was I was always too scared to give it to her. I would then go back home with the letter, with a lot of love in there, and I would climb to the roof of our house and I would hide the letter there. So they ended up being around 27-30 letters there at the end of my school career. All of them I was too scared to give it to the girls,” said AB de Villiers.

But the things seem to have changed now. AB is a lot more confident guy and is happily married. He is making full use of all those love letters experiences to please his wife. Incidentally, he slipped one letter in her passport recently and the lady was truly touched by the lovely gesture.

“Now that I am a bit older, and have finally got married, I have decided to use all that [experience] to write letters to my wife. Just the other day, when she left for South Africa, I slipped in a little handwritten note into her passport which I knew she would read, once reaching the airport. I got a text message from her a day or two later when she arrived at home saying how much that meant to her,” he quoted.
