The Royal Challengers Bangalore have had a dismal run in the current season of the IPL. They stooped to an all time low when they were beaten by the Kolkata Knight Riders at Bengaluru in their last home fixture of the season. The defeat marked their 11th defeat of the season. Needless to say, the RCB fans were left disappointed and so was their skipper Virat Kohli.

It was Kohli who had singlehandedly taken the RCB team to the finals of the tournament in the previous edition of the tournament. However, this year, the team fell apart like ten pins this season on not just one occasion but many. They have had an embarrassing time in the tournament this year with the big names failing on multiple occasions. They boasted of the likes of Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli in their lineup.

However, none could live up to their huge reputations in the season. The season also saw them register their lowest ever score in the IPL history. They were bowled out for a paltry 49 against the Kolkata Knight Riders in one of the fixtures. The embarrassments have been many. Despite all this, the sea of red made it to the M Chinnaswamy everytime they took the field in Bengaluru.

The team largely let them down and the skipper Virat Kohli had his words to say to them after their most recent defeat. On the personal front as well, the stylish batsman failed to carry the load of the underperforming unit. Kohli took to micro-blogging site Twitter to thank the fans for their support. Also, he apologized to all the RCB fans for having let them down this season.

In his tweet, he wrote, “Thanks to the @RCBTweets fans for all the unconditional love and support this season as well. Sorry, we couldn’t play up to our standards.”
