IPL 10: Virender Sehwag trolls VVS Laxman over rain gods hampering Eliminator
A wash out in the Eliminator would have meant that the Sunrisers Hyderabad would have advanced to the Qualifier 2.
The much-anticipated Eliminator between Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Kolkata Knight Riders saw the rain gods taking the center stage. Soon after the completion of the first innings, a heavy downpour hit the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. At that stage, with SRH managing only 128/7, the KKR stood in a commanding position. Certainly, VVS Laxman, the SRH mentor was in a worried space.
Well, in all fairness, it was not only VVS Laxman who was worried at that point of time. The entire fanbase of the defending champions had their hearts in their mouths. One of their top bids was to see the match getting washed out. A wash out in the Eliminator would have meant that the Sunrisers Hyderabad would have advanced to the Qualifier 2.
Rain hampers the action
The reason behind this being the fact that they had finished at a superior position than the Kolkata Knight Riders in the league stages. There are no reserve days for the Eliminators and the Qualifiers in the IPL this season. Only the final has a reserve day in frame. Hence, the Knight Riders hoped for the rains to subside. On the contrary, the men in orange had the hopes of seeing a washout.
Sehwag trolls VVS Laxman
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag took very little time to take a subtle dig at his former Indian teammate VVS Laxman. Sehwag is renowned for taking digs at his colleagues and teammates on the social media. In the recent times, he has become a social media sensation with his pun-heavy tweets and sarcasm loaded statements.
This time, he posted a picture of Laxman and had a few priests in another frame. He tried to troll Laxman saying that the SRH mentor is perhaps praying for rain to continue pouring. He tweeted, “Laxman ji spotted praying for torrential rains in Bangalore. But we need a game. #SRHvKKR.”
