IPL 2015: David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan sink Royal Challengers: Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their first win of the season when they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 wickets in a contest at dominated by Sunrisers’ openersShikhar Dhawan and David Warner. Chasing 167 at a ground that is known for Chasing totals, Sunrisers’ innings was off to a flier when David Warner took the attack to the opposition in the first few overs.
Dhawan started off the run fest in the first over bowled by Sean Abbott and Warner cut loose from the second over bowled by Harshal Patel as the first two overs yielded 36 runs and at the end of the field restriction overs, the visitors were sitting pretty at 65-0 with just over 100 shy from the target. Dhawan continued his assault and reached his second successive fifty off just 24 balls before he was trapped in front by Leggie Yuzvendra Chahal for a 27 ball 57 that had 4 fours and 4 sixes. Kane Williamson was given a promotion in the batting order but he departed in quick time courtesy a brilliant stumping off Dinesh Karthik off Chahal.
KL Rahul joined Shikhar Dhawan in the crease and took the game away from the hosts. The duo put on an unbeaten 78 run partnership for the third wicket and saw their side home. Dhawan remained not out on 50 and Rahul was unbeaten on 44 when they cruised home with 16 balls to spare. Chahal was the pick of the Bangalore bowlers with figures of 2-28 in 4 overs.
Earlier put into bat, Bangalore started off briskly with opener Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle setting the tone for them. Gayle departed for 21 caught by Aashish Reddy off Praveen Kumar and was soon followed by Dinesh Karthick who was dismissed for just 9. Skipper Virat Kohli was castled by Ravi Bopara for 41 and it was left to AB de Villiers to take his team to a good total. De Villiers did his best by scoring a 28 ball 48 as Bangalore fell prey to some good bowling effort from Bopara in the middle overs and Trent Boult and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the last two overs in which they lost 5 wickets,
David Warner was named the Man of the Match for his knock of 57 that set the tone for his side
