IPL 2019: Twitter trolls Shikhar Dhawan after his duck against RCB
Dhawan was dismissed by Tim Southee in the first over.
After playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for quite a few seasons, Shikhar Dhawan was traded by the franchise to the Delhi Capitals (DC) in exchange of three players- Abhishek Sharma, Shahbaz Nadeem and Vijay Shankar. However, he hasn’t quite looked at his fluent best, albeit he has scored 152 runs in six matches at an average of 25.33 and a strike-rate of 116.03.
The southpaw has opened for the Capitals and churned out a couple of useful knocks of 43 and 51 Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) respectively. Thereafter, the Delhi-born left-handed batsman has managed to get into the double-digit score on quite a number of instances. But he hasn’t been able to convert those starts into something substantial.
Dhawan gets out on a duck
Yesterday, the 33-year-old didn’t have the best of days on the field in the match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. After electing to field first, the Shreyas Iyer-captained Capitals restricted Virat Kohli’s men to 149 in 20 overs. The target of 150 was such that the Delhi batsmen weren’t needed to go hammer and tongs.
It was also an opportunity for Dhawan to get some form back and he also had an out-of-form RCB bowling attack to deal with. He came out to open the innings along with Prithvi Shaw, who scored a quickfire 28 runs from 22 deliveries. Dhawan got out to the fast bowler Tim Southee in the third ball of the very first over. Dhawan poked at a wide delivery, but couldn’t time it.
Navdeep Saini took a rather simple catch inside the circle, moving a few inches towards his back. In the meantime, Twitter isn’t satisfied by Dhawan’s knock by any stretch of the imagination. Subsequently, the users on the social media severely mocked him.
