It will be a battle between two struggling teams in Vivo IPL 10 when Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Delhi Daredevils lock horns in the 36th match of the tournament at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. Both teams will look to come back to their winning ways as one more loss will definitely make things very difficult for either of the teams. While Punjab has won 3 out of their 8 matches, DD is going on the same track and has won two games after playing 7 matches.
Punjab made a strong start to their campaign with comprehensive victories in their first two matches but it was again a string of poor performances which have worsened their position in the points table. Delhi Daredevils began with a defeat against RCB in the opening match but came back strongly to win 2 matches on a trot but since then it has been a tough work for DD and they have lost 4 on a bounce.
Punjab has some real power hitters in their ranks but they have failed to gel as a unit especially in the last few matches. They have failed to seize the opportunity at crucial moments which have proved to be the turning point in their fortunes. Their bowling department lacks the experience which hasn’t quite helped them.
On the other hand, Delhi Daredevils has a terrific bunch of young players but despite their impressive showing, DD has been lacklustre at important phases in the game. Even in their previous match against the Kolkata Knight Riders they were looking set for a score beyond the 180 mark but eventually managed 160.
Their bowling department has stood up and since his debut, Kagiso Rabada has looked a class act. In his very first game, he was impressive with both bat and ball and revived Delhi after they were tottering at 24/6. Pat Cummins has also stood out and has given Zaheer Khan the much-needed breakthroughs. After 4 defeats on a trot, it is high time Delhi come back to winning ways otherwise it might yet another disappointing season for the. So with around 15 hours to go for the match to commence let us have a look at the match predictions for the first match of Super Sunday.
Here is what Crictracker predicts for the game:
Scenario 1: DD will win the toss
Toss Prediction: DD choose to bowl
First innings prediction: 155-165
2nd innings Prediction: DD will win by 5 wickets (with 3 balls to spare)
Scenario 2: KXIP will win the toss
Toss Prediction: KXIP choose to bowl
First innings Prediction: 175-180
2nd innings Prediction: DD will win by 12-15 runs
Daredevils defeated Punjab quite convincingly in the first encounter by 51 runs and despite their indifferent form of late, they look the superior side given their tremendous bowling line up and young talent. On the head to head department Punjab has a slightly superior record with 10-9 win-loss ratio in 19 games.
Team Combinations
Kings XI Punjab
They are likely to bring in Daren Sammy in place of Eoin Morgan or Martin Guptill. The latter played his first match the other day and can be dangerous on his day. He has the ability to demolish any bowling attack and it is the same with Morgan but given Sammy’s all-round abilities, Punjab might be tempted to play him given their lacklustre form in the recent past.
Predicted XI: Martin Guptill, Manan Vohra, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Wriddhiman Saha, Darren Sammy, Axar Patel, Anureet Singh, KC Cariappa, Mohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma
Delhi Daredevils
They have to get back to winning habit and might be tempted to make a few changes but they have a good unit and it’s all about gelling in the correct time which hasn’t quite happened with them. I personally feel the team which played KKR should be retained. At best Carlos Brathwaite can make a return in Corey Anderson’s place.
Predicted XI: Karun Nair, Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Carlos Brathwaite, Ankit Bawne, Amit Mishra, Pat Cummins, Zaheer Khan,
Punjab have a slight edge on the head to head department but personally, I feel Delhi have their noses slightly ahead tomorrow.
