Sunrisers were the only franchise who showed the interest in 43-year-old leg-spinner, Pravin Tambe. But this could prove to be a smart pick as the defending champions lacked a quality leg-spinner last season. Pravin Tambe, the lanky bowler also would look to perform as he could not perform to the expectations for his team. Also his role would be very important as he would be the only spinner in the playing eleven.

Possible Replacements

Though the playing XI looks settled for the defending champions, they have enough backups as well if any player gets injured or does not perform well. There is a possibility that Naman Ojha might open with David Warner if Shikhar Dhawan fails to impress which vactes a lower middle order position and could be filled by young Vijay Shankar.

Also if one of the India pacers is injured, then bowlers like Abhimanyu Mithun and young Mohammad Siraj are available. In case Pravin Tambe fails or conditions allow playing two spinners then Sunrisers might play crafty Afghanistan off-spinner Mohammad Nabi leaving out one of the overseas seamers.

Also they have all-rounders like Moises Henriques who might get a game at some stage in the tournament and Ben Laughlin who is again handy with both bat and ball. Even Bipul Sharma, the left-arm orthodox bowler could be crucial if they drop Pravin Tambe or is injured mid-season.

One can say Sunrisers have an all-round squad and they are ready to defend their title this year.
