In hindsight, it’s easy to say, Chris Gayle should’ve been retained by the Royal Challengers. His poor run in the last two editions paved way for his exit, but tactically, they really missed the trick. Gayle, if they had noticed, was in good touch whilst playing other T20 leagues.

He smashed a 100 in the semi-final and the final of Bangladesh Premier League, helping Rangpur Riders clinch the trophy. He did pretty well in the Caribbean Premier League as well, which should’ve persuaded the management to use at least an RTM card.

He ended up joining Kings XI Punjab and had to wait for his chances. He announced his arrivals with a couple of fifties and a century in his first three games, proving why he’s rated as the finest T20 player of all time. If the management had placed their trust on him for another season, we would’ve been talking about an entirely different story.
