2. Darren Sammy
West Indies all-rounder Darren Sammy is not a newbie when it comes to the IPL. He was a regular in the tournament between 2013-15 and had been a part of Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He’s proven himself as a handy all-rounder time and again, be it for his national side or for his T20 league sides. In particular, Sammy’s successful captaincy in the PSL 2018 would be reason enough for IPL franchises to consider him as a potential option for captaining the side.
Not only did he serve as a responsible skipper for the Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL and led them to the title earlier this year, but also maintained a strike rate of 182.75 with the bat and bowled whenever his team was in a crunch spot. On one instance, in spite of having sustained an injury while bowling, he showed great character and led Peshawar to a thrilling victory against Quetta Gladiators with his batting heroics. Although he was ignored in this year’s IPL auction, Sammy certainly has good chances of making his way back into the league in a big way in 2019.
