IPL 2018: 5 players Sunrisers Hyderabad would target in the Mid-season transfer widow

Of the many innovative techniques introduced in the IPL this season, the Mid-season transfer should help the Sunrisers Hyderabad a lot. Despite getting off to a brilliant start, they lost two games in a row. Not just the defeats, but the manner of their defeats would be haunting their skipper Kane Williamson and the legendary support staff. Tom Moody, Muttiah Muralitharan, and VVS Laxman led the Sunrisers to their maiden title in 2016. Ever since, they’ve been one of the strongest contingents in IPL and also have a win percentage of over 50%, a record achieved by very few teams. But this season will be very difficult for them considering the weaknesses they’re failing to work on. The last match against Chennai, they batted much better when compared to the match against Kings XI Punjab. But they have to get a lot of boxes ticked. They need some young batting talents to rise up to the occasion and fill in the shoes of David Warner, which isn’t happening. Hence, here are some players they might target in the Mid-season transfer window to bolster their command in the batting department. 1. Parthiv Patel Parthiv Patel. (Photo Source: Twitter) One player they can definitely keep an eye on is Parthiv Patel, who previously represented the Sunrisers Hyderabad as well. The veteran cricketer has all the experience in the world and plays attacking cricket. He can be a like-for-like replacement for Wriddhiman Saha, who has been one of the biggest disappointments of the season for them. Parthiv Patel is currently with the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He is not getting enough opportunities as Quinton de Kock is also in the side. He is one of the top-most Keeper-batsmen in the world and it’s hard to see him getting a chance in this side. So hence, a move to SRH seems highly likely to happen. 2. Gurkeerat Singh Mann Gurkeerat Singh Mann. (Photo Source: Gurkeerat Singh Mann Facebook Handle) A household name in the IPL, Gurkeerat Singh Mann came into the spotlight after winning the Catch of the season award in 2013 for his mind-boggling effort to dismiss Ross Taylor. He showed some exploits with the bat and ball and was a crucial member of the Kings XI Punjab side. This year, he’s with the Delhi Daredevils and is yet to play a game. What he can bring to the table for the Sunrisers is some power-hitting in the middle order to go with a couple of overs with his off-breaks, given Williamson needs them. Gurkeerat is a talented cricketer and he needs opportunities to prove himself, something he might be getting if he swaps for the Sunrisers. 3. Siddesh Lad Siddhesh Lad’s patient knock helped Mumbai to draw the game against Baroda. (Photo Source: Twitter) Siddesh Lad had a fantastic domestic season for Mumbai but is failing to get a place in the playing XI of the Mumbai Indians. Going by how their batsmen are performing, it’d be impossible for him to break into the XI considering Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and Evin Lewis are in stellar form. He can be a good attacking option at the top of the order and given SRH can rope him, he can be a good opening partner to Shikhar Dhawan. He is one of those youngsters desperate to prove himself after a fantastic domestic season, but he can’t do so by sitting on the bench. He can certainly turn things around given shifts to SRH and gets some games. 4. Aditya Tare Aditya Tare. (Photo Source: Twitter) A former SRH player Aditya Tare, just like it’s happening now with Mumbai, he didn’t get many games to play. But the Indian domestic circuit is well aware of his talent and his hitting prowess. Tare’s only appearance this season came when Ishan Kishan suffered a horrendous injury and he came in as a substitute keeper. Tare can bat at the top of the order and can also play a finisher’s role in the middle order. Considering Wriddhiman Saha hasn’t been in the best of form, Tare can be a good pick for Williamson’s side who need some good quality strikers more than anything else. 5. Manan Vohra Manan Vohra. (Photo: BCCI) Manan Vohra played one of the finest innings of his cricketing career against the Sunrisers last season representing the Kings XI Punjab. It’ll be fitting if he can make this move to the Orange Army and help the side work on their opening woes. They have one attacking opener in Alex Hales, but going by the team composition, it’s hard to get him into the XI. Hence, VVS Laxman and Tom Moody will keep an eye on Vohra, who proved himself already as a fantastic opener. Technically sound and a powerful striker of the ball, Vohra can give 20-30 extra runs for their incredible bowling unit to work with. But will RCB let him go is the biggest conundrum as even they’re aware of his talent? *Disclaimer: These are the players’ teams would’ve liked to add with the transfer window.
