Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) seemed to have found their rhythm at the right time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. It is very important for them to win at least 5 out of their remaining six matches now to have any chance of qualifying for the playoffs. Moreover, AB de Villiers is ready to hit the straps after sitting out for a couple of matches due to viral fever. However, he feels that the momentum is with them now after a victory against Mumbai Indians and they can still turnaround their fortunes this season.
De Villiers’ form has been key to RCB now and it is of prime importance that he continues to play the same way he was playing before getting copped with fever. But the Men in Red have to play as a unit and not depend on any individual which has been the case in the past. They’ve done the same again in the first half of the tournament this year and finally are looking like a team to beat after the show they put up in Bangalore a couple of days ago.
We have momentum with us
AB de Villiers, while speaking on his official app, looked upbeat about the prospects of his team making it to the playoffs after their victory against Mumbai. “I thought we took a lot of learning out of those games (which I missed). Especially after the first one which we lost against Kolkata where I think we realised as a team that we are batting and bowling really well and we let ourselves down in the field,” he said while reflecting on the team’s show recently.
He also went on to say that he has a feeling that they have a momentum with them and can bag a few back-to-back wins in the upcoming matches. “We have found our rhythm and our self-belief now as the fielding came together against Mumbai and we pulled off a fantastic win and that too after losing the toss. Self-belief played a pretty big part on the slow wicket. So I am very very positive with us moving forward and I know we have to win 5 out of 6 to make it to the playoffs but we do have the belief now that it is possible,” he added.
RCB will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday at MCA International Stadium in Pune.
