Rajasthan Royals back Rahul Tripathi to come good: Ajinkya Rahane
The Rajasthan Royals defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 30 runs
The knockout stages of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are about the start while we are yet to determine the fourth team that will be a part of it. Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Kolkata Knight Riders have already made it while there is a big tussle for the fourth spot among the remaining teams. IPL 2018 is the most fiercely contested editions of the IPL as many matches have seen last over finishes and the final day of the league stage is set to determine the four finalists.
RCB knocked out
The Rajasthan Royals will consider themselves as test unluckiest team as their two key players Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes had to leave at a crucial stage of the tournament due to national commitments. RR needed to beat RCB in its final game to have a chance of qualification. Rahane and his men played a near-perfect game as they defeated RCB without their star players.
The skipper praised Rahul Tripathi and Shreyas Gopal for their excellent contributions in the match. Tripathi scored 80 runs while Shreyas Gopal picked up four wickets. “I am happy and every captain and team management wants that in difficult situations team members should stand up and perform. It was a perfect night for us where we played as a team,” Rahane said after the match.
Prior to this game, Rahul Tripathi did not play any big innings and was looking out of form. He failed to replicate his performances that he displayed last season for the Rising Pune Supergiants. “We know Rahul is a quality player and we back him. We know he can play under pressure. He did not play well in his last few innings but he has tremendous talent. I think he will go up from here. His innings and also the little cameo from Heinrich Klaasen (32 off 21 balls) in middle overs where it is difficult to bat were magnificent efforts.” added Rahane.
Rajasthan have done this part and now will be hoping that Mumbai lose to the Delhi Daredevils. The team has to stay positive and hope that things fall in place for them.
