KKR all-rounder Andre Russell was the hero of the first innings of the last night’s game at the Chepauk, but Sam Billings’ took the whole credit by hitting a quickfire fifty and leading CSK to victory. However, Russell ended up as the orange cap holder for leading the batting charts.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, the all-rounder said that scoring 200 plus is not safe anymore in T20s but defending the target is where KKR lost the game. He doesn’t want to point out any player’s poor performance and wanted their bowlers to try out for Yorkers and precise length bowling.
“I have played a lot of T20 games and seen scores of 190 and 200 plus, and you still lose the game. It was important to start well and important to bowl as tight as possible and getting wickets. I am not going to point fingers and say this guy didn’t bowl well or this guy didn’t bowl well. We just have to learn from this and take it another step. It showed that we need more yorkers and be more precise about what we going to bowl,” said Andre Russell as quoted by Hindustan Times.
Vinay Kumar, the villain for the KKR
Vinay Kumar was given the task of bowling the final over of the game where he was asked to defend 17 runs, but the bowler failed to make it count by bowling two extras and giving the game to the opposition on the penultimate ball. Vinay conceded a total of 35 runs in 1.5 overs.
However, KKR team management would look to replace Vinay Kumar with Kamlesh Nagarkoti or Shivam Mavi in the coming games. KKR has now two points on the points table by winning one game and losing the other game. Knight Riders will now take on SRH on Saturday at the Eden Gardens.
