IPL 2018 Auction: James Neesham disappointed after Ish Sodhi went unsold
Kiwi all-rounder Jimmy Neesham wasn’t particularly satisfied with Rashid’s selection.
The auctions of the prestigious Indian Premier League is well and truly on the way. Several players have gone down the hammer on the opening day of the auctions. While some bagged lucrative deals, many had to return with dejection and despair. After the sale of cricketers, opinions from players, pundits and fans have been pouring via the social media platform.
Rashid Khan was among the most anticipated buys ahead of the auctions. Quite expectantly, franchises went hammer and tongs for the Afghan leg-spinner. Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals went into a bidding away after which the Royals bowed out. Nevertheless, Delhi Daredevils entered the bidding. The leggie attracted a bid of nine crores from Kings XI Punjab.
However, the Sunrisers Hyderabad exercised their RTM and brought back Rashid. While everyone hailed the decision, Kiwi all-rounder Jimmy Neesham wasn’t particularly satisfied with Rashid’s selection, more so because Ish Sodhi, his fellow teammate didn’t find a buyer in the event. He took to Twitter and raised a question regarding the significance of domestic leagues ahead of international tournaments.
Here’s the Tweet from Neesham
Inderbir Singh Sodhi aka Ish Sodhi has performed decently in the T20 format for the Kiwis over the past few years. The Chandigarh-born cricketer has churned out wickets and has an instrumental part of the Kiwis bowling lineup. He has also bowled well during New Zealand’s tour of India back in November 2017. Rashid, on the other hand, has been exceptional over the years.
He has stamped his authority, both in international cricket and domestic leagues. Rashid has also had an impressive run in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League. Both are impressive spinners and deserves a spot in the team. Several utility players missed out on a deal, so did Sodhi.
