The Twenty20 format has been owned and ruled by the leg-spinners over the recent times, whether it be the Indian Premier League, the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia or the various other leagues contested across the world. The leggies do their best for their teams in the T20 fortunes and have deceived many top-rated batsmen with their magical deliveries.
Young Afghanistan spin sensation Rashid Khan is surely among the top in that leg-spinners tally with a handful of variations in his baggage. He was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for a staggering price of Rs 9 crores, through the Right to Match option.
The Afghanistan cricketer became the first cricketer from his nation to feature in the IPL last year, where he played for the SRH franchise and then his Afghanistan teammate Mohammad Nabi also joined him in the competition. Rashid featured in 14 games in the last season, where he picked up 17 wickets at an impressive economy of 6.63. He enjoyed a successful stint with the SRH in 2017 and will be looking forward to a golden run once again with the same franchise in IPL 2018.
Why is Rashid rated so highly?
The leg-spinner has some exciting and extraordinary numbers in the shortest format of the game, which is the main reason he has been rated as one of the topmost players in the game currently. He enriched the pride of his home country with an incredible performance in the ongoing BBL, where he is running through some of the best batsmen of the world and is also the highest wicket-taker of the tournament so far with a whopping tally of 17 wickets to his name.
The No 3 ranked T20 bowler in the ICC rankings has surely evolved as a match-winning player for his national team and the other T20 teams he has played across the world in the past calendar year. Twitteratis excelled in joy as the leg-spinner was retained by the SRH in the auctions and many of the SRH fans were thrilled to engulf his presence once again in the upcoming season.
Rashid Khan a millionnaire at 19. Perhaps the best T20 spinner in the world at the moment, so he has earned it. What a story.

A thought to ponder… Does Rashid Khan going for 1.5 Mil and Ish going unsold mean it's more important to perform in other domestic t20 comps than in international cricket? ?

IPL has changed so much in a decade but 10 years ago you would not have thought it possible for an Afghanistan teenage leggie to go for $1.4m like Rashid Khan just has. Brilliant

Rashid Khan is an IPL millionaire which embodies the best of T20 leagues: they respect talent and don't care where a player is from.

The story of IPL auction, perhaps even of cricket in the last 12-15 months, is the rise to eminence of 19-year-old Afghan Rashid Khan
