IPL 2018 Auctions: Youngest bidder Jhanvi Mehta excited to have Chris Lynn onboard
Jhanvi, who is the daughter of the Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Jay Mehta, became the youngest bidder to participate in the auctions.
Jhanvi Mehta was a name unknown to most of the cricket fans. And now, after the IPL 2018 Auctions, she has become a familiar face to most of the fanatics who followed the auctions. Jhanvi, who is the daughter of the Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Jay Mehta, became the youngest bidder to participate in the auctions. Jhanvi’s mother, Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla, has been an iconic face in the KKR family over the years.
And now, the 17-year old Jhanvi Mehta is sure to bring much more lady luck to the KKR roster. Jhanvi’s father was a proud man after the day one of the auctions. As per the quotes in Sportswallah, Jay Mehta mentioned that the auctions have certainly been a great experience for her. He revealed that Jhanvi is a student in England and is currently in India only for a very short while. He further revealed that the young lady is very passionate about the game of cricket.
“I think it’s a wonderful experience for her and it’s great to have her with us. She is now studying in England. She has come back for two-three days, which is great. We get to see her, plus she gets to participate in the auction. She is really passionate about cricket. I think it’s great that she can experience this,” quoted the KKR co-owner Jay Mehta.
Some serious biceps training
It is worth noting that the Kolkata Knight Riders made some very good selections on the first day of the IPL 2018 auctions. They roped in the services of premier Australian bowler Mitchell Starc. Also, they managed to retain the services of Chris Lynn, who was a top performer for them last season.
Jhanvi Mehta surely had a good time lifting up the bidding paddle on the day to get the big names onboard. Commenting on the same, she joked about having a biceps training with the same. Furthermore she expressed her happiness over having Lynn on the roster. She remarked that the hard-hitting batsman hits a lot of sixes, which is very interesting.
“I got bicep training [by continuously lifting the bidding paddle], which is good (laughs). Chris Lynn and I’m happy we got him. He hits a lot of sixes (laughs). So, it’s really fun to watch him play,” Jhanvi Mehta mentioned.
