IPL 2018: CSK appoint a former Australian legend as the batting coach
The franchise is aiming to comeback with a bang.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has appointed the former Australian legendary cricketer as the batting coach for the next edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise is set to return to the lucrative T20 league after serving the suspension of two years for their alleged involvement in 2013 spot-fixing saga. They are also leaving no stone unturned and have been preparing for their return for a long time. However, it remains to be seen though if they can produce the results like they did in the first eight seasons of IPL.
CSK retained the favourite son of India MS Dhoni during the player retention event earlier this week. His retention was a no-brainer for them as a lot of their fanbase is due to the former Indian captain. The franchise also went with Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja as far as the retentions are concerned surprisingly leaving out Dwayne Bravo who is lighting up the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL). They would want to use a Right to Match (RTM) card for him in the upcoming player auction later this month.
Who is the batting coach?
CSK has appointed Michael Hussey as their batting coach for the upcoming season of the cash-rich T20 extravaganza. The franchise confirmed the news in their latest social media update. They posted an image of Hussey saluting and welcomed him to the setup of CSK. The message for the followers read, “Welcome back, Huss! Our summer is gonna be even more awesomesauce with this gentleman from Down Under back in the Yellow Brigade. This time, as the Batting Coach! #ReturnOfTheSuperKings #SummerIsComing #WhistlePodu.”
Here’s the tweet:
He has been with the franchise as a player previously winning the coveted title as well. Also, he has been a huge fan of MS Dhoni as a captain often heaping huge praises on him in the media. Hussey used to open for Chennai Super Kings and has played a lot of memorable knocks for them at the top. His appointment as the batting coach will do wonders for the young players as they will have a chance to take a leaf out of his book.
