Playing ten seasons for Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan Singh has always been a strike bowler. He has been the leader of their spin attack and there are very few instances where he wasn’t given a chance to bowl his four overs. However, things have changed drastically after he began his stint with the Chennai Super Kings for the eleventh season of the IPL. Harbhajan has just bowled 31 overs in the 13 matches he played.

With Dhoni having so many options, Harbhajan did not get to complete his quota in many games. Bhajji picked seven wickets in 13 games bowling 31 overs. Also, his economy rate has been the key. In the first eight games, he picked six wickets at an economy of just above 7. He also surpassed Praveen Kumar’s record for most number of dot balls.

Dhoni’s epic reply:

When asked about under using the veteran, CSK skipper MS Dhoni came out with an epic reply. Just ahead of the final on Sunday, MS Dhoni explained the situation when asked about the difficulties in handling so many bowlers. “You know, I have a lot of cars and bikes in my garage. And, I don’t ride all at a time,” he said and the whole room started laughing.

“When you have six to seven bowlers in your side, you want to see the conditions. You want to see who is batting and what is needed at that point in time. In the past, we had Negi and Jadeja, and I gave them different slots of bowling. And the unreal thing is that a lot of times the player gets criticised at times for what the batsman is doing,” he added.

“I always check what is the condition and what is in the best interest of the team than before deciding on the bowler as to who has the best chance to succeed over the bowler. Like in the last game I didn’t feel it was necessary for him to bowl. But for Bhajji, he is really experienced when it comes to any format of the game,” the CSK skipper concluded.

Bhajji to equal Rohit’s record:

Bhajji, one of India’s finest off-spinners is good to go to highlight in his fourth IPL finale. The veteran has won three IPL titles as of yet. In the event that CSK overwhelms SRH, Bhajji will join his previous captain – Rohit Sharma for the record of most IPL triumphs for a player. Rohit Sharma has won the title three times as Mumbai Indians captain and once while he was a piece of the Deccan Chargers.
