IPL 2018: Dinesh Karthik and Nitish Rana give Kohli a fiery sendoff

Nitish Rana had a tremendous night. Of course, when it comes to his batting, he is indeed a specialist, but his bowling stole the show. Not many, apart from perhaps Allan Border can attest to the fact that it can be embarrassing at times. However, on the day, Nitish Rana certainly had nothing to be embarrassed about. Why would he? Especially, after having dismissed the Royal Challengers Bangalore tandem of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the same over.

The Challengers’ had a bad beginning initially when they were put into bat on a rather diabolical surface at the Eden Gardens. Adding fuel to the fire was the fact that opener Quinton de Kock was dismissed without tickling the scorers as much as he would have liked. Virat Kohli batted as slowly as ever before he was joined by AB de Villiers.

The 33-year old South African batsman began to thrust himself upon the game by slamming a few deliveries into the stand before he was eventually hauled out courtesy of a top edge from the gentle off-spin of Nitish Rana. The latter would eventually have yet another wicket when he bowled a stupendous yorker that dismissed Kohli himself. While the 29-year old batsman, awe-struck and shell-shocked from what had transpired decided it best to walk away.

However, as far as what happened next, was a case of a sendoff from both Rana and Karthik with the former ensuring that Kohli did indeed know who he was as he walked back to the dugout.

The Challengers eventually posted a score of 170, something that would not seem as much in the grand scheme of things, for the Knight Riders, at least.
