Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are gearing up for the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which will commence on April 7. The squad has almost come together to train ahead of the tournament with the remaining players soon expected to join the camp. All eyes this season will be on the newly-appointed skipper Dinesh Karthik who will lead any IPL for the first time ever. However, he has now revealed the one thing which he has learned from his wife Dipika Pallikal who is also a sportsperson.
KKR released Gautam Gambhir in the auction earlier this year and went on to pick a 19-man strong squad to become the only franchise to empty their purse. There were a lot of speculations over who will be the leader of the pack as they didn’t have any captain material like Gambhir up their sleeves this time around. After much anticipation, they picked Karthik at the helm and are backing him to come good in this season.
Karthik admires his wife
Dinesh Karthik revealed that he learned about being determined in life from his wife while speaking in the press conference arranged by HMD Global and KKR. The event took place at ITC Sonar in Kolkata. His wife is a Squash champion in currently in Gold Coast ahead of the Commonwealth games which will start on April 4.
“Determination, I think. She’s worked especially hard for this Commonwealth Games. Four years back, she won gold in Glasgow and you know, as a player, the most important thing is to be able to repeat it, you want to be consistent and she’s worked really hard in the last 4 years to get a gold again. She’s already in Gold Coast, as we speak right now, and a very important two weeks in her life right now,” he said.
He also wished the whole Indian contingent good luck for Commonwealth games as well. “The one thing I’ve learnt from her is a lot of determination and I wish her all the best, and most importantly, to the whole Indian contingent who’s gone there for the Commonwealth Games, wish them all the best,” Karthik added.
