It is not an easy task to overshadow someone of the calibre of Chris Gayle, and that too, in the shortest format of the game. But young Evin Lewis has managed to do that on numerous occasions. Batting with the ‘Universe boss’, he has managed to outclass the master and bag all limelight – be it in the CPL, or in the Windies colors. Lewis has had an illustrious T20I career. In his very second T20I, he had smashed a 49 ball century against India in Florida.

More recently, against the same team, he scored his second T20I hundred. Needless to concede, he managed to catch the eyes of the IPL franchises at the IPL 2018 auctions. The Mumbai Indians bid heavily for him and bagged his services. Recently, as per the quotes in PakPassion, Evin Lewis expressed his excitement on being a part of the Mumbai Indians and delivering his best for the franchise.

“I am obviously delighted to have been picked by Mumbai Indians. After the year I had, I was looking forward to seeing how the auction unfolded and I’m honoured and very pleased to know I’m going to be part of such a successful franchise which was the winner in the 2017 edition of the IPL. It should be great fun playing in the IPL and it’s something I have been keen to take part in,” Evin Lewis quoted.

On PSL participation

Unfortunately for the PSL fans, Evin Lewis will not be able to take part in the PSL 2018 owing to his national commitments. He will be featuring for the Windies side in the World Cup Qualifiers which will take place at the same time as that of the PSL. Along with Evin Lewis, other players like Carlos Brathwaite have also pulled out of the PSL 2018. Lewis conceded that his immediate goal is to help West Indies qualify for the World Cup.

“I am really looking forward to helping the West Indies qualify for the World Cup in 2019 by winning in the qualifiers which start in March of this year. It would be a great achievement for me if I can contribute to this cause. West Indies is a proud cricketing region and I will do my utmost to help us qualify for the major tournament that the World Cup is. Regretfully, I will not be taking part in the PSL this year but I would like to reassure fans that whether I play for the West Indies or any Twenty20 league, my intention is just to be the best cricketer I can be,” Lewis conceded.
