IPL 2018: Fans disappointed with Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir

Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir have carved a reputation for being two of the most prominent names in the cricketing world. However, the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) hasn’t been an auspicious outing thus far for the stalwarts. Gambhir and Yuvraj are currently representing the Delhi Daredevils (DD) and the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) respectively.

Gambhir, who is also the skipper of the Daredevils, has scored 85 runs in the six games at a mediocre average of 17. The left-handed batsman commenced the tournament with an impressive half-century against Ravichandran Ashwin’s Punjab, however, he has strained in the games thereafter and could only manage a meagre 30 runs in his next four innings.

Moreover, his team has also slumped to five defeats in six games, which has left them with an uphill task of qualifying for the playoffs. The Delhi Daredevils are currently the cellar dweller of the league. On the other hand, though Punjab has been on a winning spree and is currently the table toppers, Yuvraj Singh has faltered frantically and have been a pale shadow of his stupendous self.

The all-round cricketer has scored 50 runs in six games at a forgettable able of 12.50, which is far from what Yuvraj used to dish out during his heydays. His left-arm off-breaks have seldom been resorted to by Ashwin. To add to his woes. he has been erratic in the outfield, having grassed the simplest of chances. It won’t be bewildering if he is left out of the playing eleven in the upcoming games.

The fans are definitely not satisfied by the lacklustre shows by the discarded Indian cricketers. Subsequently, they took to Twitter and vented their anger and disgust on Yuvraj and Gambhir.

#DDvKXIP #IPL2018 Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh are clearly extra baggages for their respective franchises in this edition of #IPL. @KKRiders was every bit right in getting rid of Gambhir. Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan are the three weakest teams of this season.
