The terror that Glenn Maxwell had been able to strike in the bowler’s heart while playing for the Kings XI Punjab side back in 2014 seems to have lost its sheen in recent times. Compared to his runs tally of 552 in 16 matches back in 2014, Maxwell has had a below-par season in IPL 2018, with just 142 runs in 10 games. This dearth of runs from his bat has hurt DD and how! In order to remedy the situation, Maxwell was sent up the order to open the inning for Delhi against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

The move turned out to be a major blunder as he was run out unceremoniously by Sandeep Sharma for a personal total of just 2 runs off 3 balls. Considering that the 29-year-old is accustomed to shouldering the middle-order responsibilities, be it for his national side or in the Big Bash League (BBL), the sudden push up the order was a major blunder on the part of the team management as Maxwell failed to cope with the pressure of consolidating the team’s innings in the initial overs.
