‘Catches win you matches’. RCB would’ve realised the importance of the statement in the most bitter way possible as dropped catches cost them a winnable encounter against the KKR in their own backyard. Chris Lynn, who was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ for his unbeaten knock worth 62 runs from 52 balls, was dropped by Murugan Ashwin in the fourth over, delivering a big blow to RCB’s chances of winning.

Add to that the failure to convert a couple of more half-chances into possible catches and sloppy fielding, RCB ended up gifting the match to KKR so much so that it prompted the response “If we field like that, we don’t deserve to win,” from Captain Kohli. Their weak death bowling didn’t help either as they conceded way too many runs in the last four overs.
