2. Wriddhiman Saha | Sunrisers Hyderabad
Wriddhiman Saha came into this IPL on the back of a 20-ball century in a local tournament. He was picked in the auction for about five crores as a specialist wicketkeeper who can also contribute with the bat. There were some big expectations on him as he was entrusted with the opener’s role in the absence of David Warner ahead of the likes of Alex Hales. But, he didn’t live up to the expectations and disappointed many.
Saha has scores of 24 and 6 this week. More than anything else, it was the way in which he threw his wicket away that led to severe disappointment. Traditionally a player who likes playing with the straight bat in the ‘V’, Saha tried to go across the line to hit the big shots, therefore, throwing his wicket away both the times in this week. He was either bowled, caught in front of the stumps LBW or by the keeper attempting to play across the line. Furthermore, his glovework potentially cost SRH a game as he dropped a crucial catch of Chris Gayle early on in his innings.
