IPL 2018: Harbhajan Singh believes that CSK can make a strong comeback
Chennai are currently sitting on the second position of the league table.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) commenced the Indian Premier League (IPL) with five victories in their first six matches. Their only defeat came against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) against whom they were brushed aside by four runs. However, they have tended to strain a wee bit as the tournament has progressed. The franchise has slumped to drubbings in three out of their last five matches.
Their last contest was against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. MS Dhoni’s men looked clinical for a chunk of the clash, however, they failed to hold on to their nerves and subsequently experienced their fourth loss of the cash-rich T20 extravaganza. The CSK skipper won the toss and elected to bat first on a seemingly slow and low strip.
An off day for the Super Kings
Jofra Archer rattled Ambati Rayudu’s woodwork after which Shane Watson and Suresh Raina racked up a partnership 86 runs, which laid the platform for the final flourish. To Chennai’s dismay, both set batsmen perished in quick succession and that put the skids under one of the most destructive batting lineups of the league. Dhoni and Sam Billings took charge thereafter and guided the visitors to safer shores.
During Rajasthan’s run chase, the Super Kings picked up quite a few wickets, but a certain player by the name of Jos Buttler turned out to be a thorn in their flesh. The English wicket-keeper batsman hardly lost his cool and kept the home team in contention for a victory. He started briskly but slowed down in the middle. To the Royals’ relief, he came on to his own in the dying stages of the game and got them home.
Harbhajan Singh, who was taken for 29 runs in two overs, affirmed that the loss won’t dent their morale. He also mentioned that CSK will make a strong comeback. Moreover, he hailed Jos Buttler for his stupendous knock of 95 runs off 60 balls. The discarded Indian off-spinner took to Twitter and delivered his messages.
