Mitchell Starc has been ruled out of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to tibial bone stress in his right leg. This is the third consecutive season he has either opted or been ruled out of the tournament. Kolkata Knight Riders must have copped a huge blow due to an injury to their key bowler and will have to find an able replacement for him now soon. However, the popular cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle has chosen the bowler he wants the franchise to replace the Australian cricketer.
KKR had bought Starc for a huge amount of Rs 9.4 Crores following an intense bidding war in the mega-auction earlier this year in January. The left-arm pacer has been playing continuously since last year and he even missed out on a Boxing Day Test in the Ashes down under last year. He is so injury prone that it was only about time that he was going to sustain an injury after such a draining Test series in the rainbow nation.
Harsha picks his bowler
Harsha Bhogle has picked the South African fast bowler Morne Morkel as the perfect replacement for Mitchell Starc in this season of the IPL. Logically thinking, the cricket analyst has got his pick spot on as the Proteas cricketer will be retiring from international cricket after the ongoing Test match. He will also be available for the whole season even as the bowler is fully fit and can match Starc’s skills.
Morkel is also in great form with the ball as he recently took 9 wickets in the third Test which will be remembered for the controversy which followed. It will be interesting to see if KKR agree with Harsha in this regard and they will have to announce the replacement soon as the T20 extravaganza is all set to commence on April 7.
Here’s Harsha Bhogle’s tweet:
I'd go Morne Morkel for Mitch Starc. #KKR @KKRiders
