The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) hasn’t been an auspicious one for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). They have undoubtedly won three out of their eight matches but has been far from clinical. Their bowling attack has been a major conundrum, which has been a detriment to their campaign thus far in the cash-rich tournament.
Nevertheless, they managed to beat the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium and kept their hopes of qualification alive. However, despite the victories, Virat Kohli’s men have an uphill task in hand. Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan, the cricketer cum commentator, hasn’t lost confidence in them and believes that they still can emerge victorious in the championship.
“You never know” Irfan on RCB
“The last match for RCB under Virat went very well. The way he led, especially with limited resources. When he leads India he has many more resources but with these resources, he has picked up momentum which is a very good thing,” Irfan Pathan was quoted as saying by India Today.
Bangalore are currently in the fifth position of the points table below the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They need to carry forward their form, from the previous match, into their next matches in order to progress deep into the event. Apart from the Challengers, Pathan has affirmed the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), under the leadership of MS Dhoni, as a formidable unit.
“I went with RCB at the start of the tournament and I still think they can win. I know one can change prediction based on the momentum of the tournament but the kind of players they have, you never know. The other dangerous team always is CSK who have a great structure. They have a charismatic captain in MS Dhoni and is a kind of team that always does well,” the new Jammu and Kashmir mentor added.
