2. 2009 – 5th
In the second season of the IPL, Punjab team players failed to produce a consistent at any of stages of the tournament, which was held for the only time in the Proteas nation. They had a quite eventful phase as they kept on losing a couple of games and then also won a couple of games, which was their story in that edition. They failed to maintain the conquering momentum which they gained in the previous year, as they suffered some heavy losses to the better opposition.
