It was a third consecutive season for Gilchrist to be leading the Punjab franchise in the global tournament, with the side persisting with the Aussie aiming for glory in the sixth edition. But the Aussie wicket-keeper once again failed to lead his IPL side to one of defiant campaigns, which now looked like a possible dreaming fact for them in the tournament. The experienced players once again failed to come at the party, while the other players also could not deliver consistent performances.

Explosive and promising batsman from South Africa, David Miller finished the season on a high with 418 runs to his name, while former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood claimed 15 wickets as his best performance in the league.
