The Kolkata Knight Riders recently stunned all their fans by not sticking to the services of their hitherto skipper Gautam Gambhir. The move was certainly a very bold one considering the fact that Gambhir had been one of the mainstays of the franchise. Amidst this backdrop, many wondered why the Kolkata Knight Riders camp, including one of the co-owners, Shah Rukh Khan kept mum on the issue.
Now, in a recent social media interaction, the Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Rukh Khan finally spoke about Gautam Gambhir. One of the fans asked the Bollywood superstar to comment on Gambhir parting ways with the Knight Riders. In response to this, SRK answered that the team will surely miss him. Gambhir’s absence is bound to be felt.
Here is what Shah Rukh Khan replied:
“Will miss him,” tweeted Shah Rukh Khan.

Talking about the IPL 2018 auctions, the Kolkata Knight Riders seemed to have missed the trick big time. Not only did they let their core member Gautam Gambhir leave the side, but also ended up spending all their purse amount for just 19 players. On the other hand, all other teams grabbed more than 20 players in the auctions from the purse money allotted to them.
Speaking about Gautam Gambhir, the southpaw had a very old connection with the KKR family. He had joined the roster over half a decade ago. Prior to that, he was with the Delhi Daredevils camp. After taking over as the captain of the KKR team, Gambhir almost reformed the structure of the side. His captaincy did wonders for the Knight Riders.
It was under his captaincy that the Kolkata Knight Riders lifted the IPL trophy on two occasions. Only Chennai Super Kings is the other team to have won the IPL title twice. And Mumbai Indians leads the race with 3 title wins to their name in the history of the tournament. At the IPL 2018 auctions, Gambhir was roped in by the Delhi Daredevils. The DD camp went on to announce that Gambhir is set to captain the Delhi side in the IPL 2018.
